rg+p, a Midlands architectural design, project management and quantity surveyor practice, has won planning approval for a £130m design scheme to regenerate Birmingham’s dilapidated Irish Quarter in Digbeth
![]() |
The high-profile development sits on one of the principle routes into Birmingham city centre, adjacent to the Bullring shopping centre and is opposite the city’s main coach station. The layout of the new Connaught Square development is based on new and existing routes around and through the site with the two public squares tying the whole development together. Focal points have been created at either end of the site, with the new hotel and the purposedesigned Irish Centre community complex, with a pedestrian boulevard connecting the two.
