CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) will be promoting the concept of the smart home at Interbuild, providing visitors with access to a tailored education programme in one of the core attractions of Interbuild 2007 (28 October-1 November, NEC, Birmingham).

The Association will be running a dedicated seminar programme within a special Home Automation theatre located at the heart of the show in Hall 3 every day of Interbuild. Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including cabling requirements for home entertainment and automation systems, the eco home and a property developer’s guide to residential technology. CEDIA will also be offering Interbuild visitors the chance to attend its RIBA CPD course, “Designing Integrated Future-Ready Homes”.

“Leading Interbuild’s education programme in this way is part of CEDIA’s drive to raise awareness of the growing residential electronic systems industry, its technology and the potential benefits for architects, property developers and their clients” says Peter Aylett, CEDIA’s education manager. “CEDIA members are professional designers, installers and integrators of systems which embrace the latest TV and home cinema equipment, multi-room audio, lighting and HVAC control, home networking and security, and other systems. If you want electronic systems in your home, then for a high quality project, hire a CEDIA member to do it for you.  This is CEDIA’s key message at Interbuild.”

In total, CEDIA is offering four different courses at the event. ‘Designing Integrated Future-Ready Homes’ aims to help architects, developers and other professionals appreciate and communicate the benefits of home automation, systems integration and structured wiring to their clients. ‘The Eco Home’ looks at how solutions, such as, intelligent blinds and lighting can help save energy. It also looks at ways of controlling heating and air conditioning as well as monitoring energy usage. ‘Installing a Cable Infrastructure In The 21st Century’ explains how installing a cable infrastructure at the design stage of a build is critical and also investigates wired vs wireless vs fibre solutions. ‘The Property Developer’s Guide to Residential Technology’ explains how the public’s perception of technology enhancing their lives means that technology can be used as an essential selling point of any development.
