A fine recycled design from GLASSeco

Ecobuild's zero carbon house - designed by Zedfactory - revealed the latest design features, sustainable materials and systems that combine to make carbon neutral housing a reality. A first-class example of the exciting modern materials that were showcased in the house are the GLASSeco splashbacks and tables, and a ruralZed logo, all made from 85% recycled glass bottles which were destined for landfill. Empty bottles collected from London's pubs and clubs are washed and smashed into thousands of tiny chips. The fine sand-like cullets are then bound together with a solvent-free resin, ready to be poured in to bespoke moulds to cure and set rock-hard. The reformed material is suitable for worktops, tiles, flooring, steps, screens and walls.
