The Redland name may have a 90-year heritage in the UK roofing market, but the newly rebranded company - following last year's divestment from the Lafarge Group - has its sights firmly set on its customers current, and future, needs. March 2008 saw the launch of a new range of hand-made appearance and weathered clay plain tiles, following a £5m investment in a purpose-designed production facility. With Rosemary Craftsman, Redland has created a machine-made plain tile that offers a characterful handmade appearance. The technology to achieve this visual effect was designed jointly by Redland and Monier Technical Centre and the production technique creates dimensional variations and a rustic course texture that varies from tile to tile.
