The new Glow-worm heating systems training facility has over 1,000m2 of training space purely for use by installers. “The tutorial rooms are air conditioned so that the best possible atmosphere is created for the intake of information – in a relaxed yet business-like manner. But the real ‘engine room’ of the Glow-worm Bristol Centre of Excellence is the workshop housed with boilers, controls, cylinders and solar systems” says Ross Tuckey for Glow-worm.
Over half a million pounds has been invested in creating the Bristol centre of excellence, gutting the original building and refurbishing it. “We have 10 working boilers and they can all be running at the same time and each installer can actually work on a product on their own rather than crowd around one boiler. The experience is personal so the training has to be individual and personal too, hence the need for the development of these advance training facilities. The centre also has a complete indoor roof and solar rig - installers need to get their hands on the products, “says Ross Tuckey.
Courses are tailored and include the entire Glow-worm boiler, unvented hot water cylinders and solar product ranges. There is also a BPEC Combustion Performance Assessment (CPA1); G3 Unvented; an Energy Efficiency for domestic heating certificate; BPEC Solar and for those who don’t install but need to inspect or design solar or unvented systems Glow-worm offers ‘Defined Scope’ options.
