Estate setting for Masterdor doors

Country sports and farming estate Haddo Estate has selected made to measure Masterdor door sets to be installed at its letting properties.

Estate owner Alexander Gordon, The Marquess of Aberdeen, wanted the properties to retain their traditional appearance as part of a refurbishment programme of many of the properties and required a door set that was in keeping with the surrounding area.  The 500 year old, 7000-acre estate lies 20 miles northwest of Aberdeen and includes more than 100 houses, most of which are to let.

Joiner Tony Prett was assigned the task to find the right door set manufacturer and came across Manse Masterdor at last year's Interbuild exhibition.

He says, "I'd been looking for a suitable manufacturer for a while and was really impressed when I met the Manse Masterdor team.  I was invited to have a look around their factory and I could see how passionate and positive the team were about their product.

"The properties at the estate are very old so the majority of door entrances vary in size.  As the Masterdor is made to measure, each door set can be manufactured to individual requirements.

"We also needed to be considerate of the physical atmosphere of where the properties are based as it gets incredibly wet and windy up here and we have had many door failures in the past.  The Masterdor is extremely weather tight and the door set achieves air permeability levels of 800 Special and should give many years service with minimal maintenance.  This is key for minimising heat loss and energy usage, which we are trying to do as part of our refurbishment programme.  Some of the properties are being fitted with biomass boilers that use wood chippings from the estate woodland to produce heating and hot water."

Manse Masterdor ltd provides the largest range of Secured by Design and Sold Secure certified door-sets on the market.  Masterdors exceed PAS23/24 Bsi tests, meet the requirements of Part M of the building regulations, and fire-check versions have also been successfully tested to BS476 Part 22.Its exposed location required a door set that is extremely weather and air tight to minimise heat loss and energy usage.
