New windows for student accommodation
The next generation of students in north London will have an ultra modern, contemporary outlook, thanks to leading Sheerframe PVC window fabricator and installer Hertfordshire Window Company.
The extensive window installation at the stylish 514 bedroom Opal 1 Will Wyatt Court complex developed by HG Construction for Opal Property Group involves 550 grey PVC Sheerframe tilt and turn windows, which complement the modern Italian walnut cladding exterior of the new building adding to the overall aesthetic.
HG Constuction’s Commercial Director Ian Saunders says, “The window specification was somewhat different from normal requiring a dark external and light internal colours, specific locking arrangements and glazing to suit thermal requirements, sun glare and strength.
“Hertfordshire Window Company were able to meet this specification together with providing invaluable early cost and design information. Hertfordshire Window Company were on hand to attend both design and site progress meetings throughout all phases of the works. This flexibility assisted us in completing the project ahead of programme.”
Dave Regan, the Production Director at Hertfordshire Window Company, says, “We were able to handle the key priorities for the window installation which were cost efficiency, sustainability and colour contrast. “Due to the diagonal cladding system, the windows needed to be fitted directly into the face of the concrete but the Sheerframe system offered us the flexibility to do this using a separate bracket system. This enabled us to fit the windows without reducing the window size and maintaining a larger window unit overall.”
