Betabric from Poundfield

Poundfield’s Betabric precast brick faced cladding panels are manufactured in a purpose built facility making bespoke panels for a variety of building applications. At Poundfield we have developed and invested in our own patented process over a period of years so we can offer the construction industry a consistently high quality finished product.

Engineering and Design

Our engineers can work with the client at an early stage to discuss the possibilities for the use of a precast cladding system or work with the project’s own engineers on the design.

These same engineers are then responsible for checking the detail of each individual panel with the client prior to manufacture and at Poundfield they are also made responsible for the hands on detailing in the factory prior to concrete being poured and with checking finished panels.

Once detailed, a file is produced for each panel number. Reinforcing is assembled in the same building and each element is checked and a photographic record of the reinforcing kept with the panel’s file.

The Poundfield Computermat™ Print System

At Poundfield every single panel has its own computermat produced for it.

This is a full size printed mat produced from the CAD file of each panel to be used in the build. By printing this at actual size onto our specially manufactured fabric and the placing it onto the Betabric mould base each individual element can be produced to exacting tolerances of brick layout and joint detail – in short our panels are as accurate as the computer drawing.

Brick Preparation

Poundfield has invested in a variety of automated brick processing lines to cut and /or machine any brick which has been specified and this process is carried out at the same factory.

Bricks are machined or drilled depending on the detailing of the panel and then put through our brick washing plant to remove any dust which may affect the casting process or the adhesion of the brick to the concrete.

Casting

The Betabric system uses our own patented process for casting the bricks into concrete.

The system uses self compacting concrete to ensure consistency.

This concrete requires no energy for vibration and so deflection of the mould while casting is virtually eliminated allowing for tighter tolerances in the finished product.

Mortar Detail

Our precast panels are cast to allow for the relevant depth of mortar joint to be finished after the main manufacturing process.

Any joint detail and dimension can be specified.

By liaising with the client, mortar can be sourced from the same supplier as any on site brickwork being carried out.

Quality Control

At Poundfield our quality control and testing facility is on site and involves a cube being taken from every panel produced.

The cube result for 24 hour, 7 days and 28 days is added to the file for each individual panel number which will be supplied to the customer at completion of the job. Reinforcing records are also kept from each panel.

 Delivery

Betabric units are delivered on our own steel ‘A’ frames, each of which carries up to 15 tonnes and can be delivered on rigid or articulated vehicles.
