TRA members are a cut above in roofing sector

Trussed Rafter Association - A cut above the restFew building contractors or consultants working in today’s competitive construction industry would ever choose to install a cut roof, but when buying prefabricated trussed timber rafters they should also be aware that members of the Trussed Rafter Association still offer a service that is a cut above.

To join the association, manufacturers must obtain ISO 9001 accreditation, demonstrating that their production, management and logistical processes meet recognised standards of Quality Assurance. They also have to carry professional indemnity insurance cover of at least £1 million.  In addition, Health & Safety is particularly important to TRA members, who provide guidance on the correct procedures for handling and storing trussed rafters, so minimising the chance of accidents in the factory or on site.

Whether a client is seeking large quantities of similar trussed rafters for a housing development or a complex design solution for an individual project, the TRA member will fabricate the trusses or other components using one of several sophisticated nail plate systems. Each system incorporating the use of bespoke design software and CNC production controls.  Members are also happy to assist in the design process and many can provide an erection service.

From the point of view of sustainability, these integrated production packages not only ensure that the client receives high quality products within a predictable time frame, but they also optimise performance and minimise waste. In addition to this the majority of TRA members are able to offer their customers FSC, PEFC or some other recognised chain of custody certification for the timber utilised.

The Trussed Rafter Association runs an extremely active technical committee that works with regulatory authorities and other relevant bodies and to ensure that its members keep up to date with all the latest industry requirements, while also offering constant product development and innovation.
