A Midlands-based member of the Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) was involved in helping to create an extremely light and open entrance space to a care facility for terminally ill patients. The contract included off-site fabrication of the roof elements for the main contractor to install. Large feature laminated beams - measuring upto 150x495mm in section and spanning more than 6m - form a portal frame plus main rafters and purlins; all jointed with secret connectors and featured beneath the plastered soffits
