New Special Digest SD4

The Concrete Block Association (CBA) has supported the creation of a new BRE Special Digest (SD4) for masonry walls and beam-and-block floors. The digest explains how the requirements of building regulation for conservation of fuel and power may be satisfied using aggregate concrete blocks. It gives information on the relevant regulations, showing various routes to compliance, together with a number of examples involving aggregate concrete block constructions. It is written for designers, architects and builders who may be considering using masonry and for enforcers of the regulations who are assessing applications.
